Kyles Athletic 2 Skye Camanachd 9 | |
11 November 2022 Skye Camanachd primaries won the Camanachd Association Cup, beating Kyles Athletic primaries 9-2 at the old blaze pitch at Mossfield Stadium on Friday 11 November 2022. Skye led 3-2 following a close first-half but added a fourth soon after the restart. A heavy downpour followed, and the Skye squad took a grip of the game and went on to score five more times to take the trophy. Ethan Kerr and Ryan Simpson scored for Kyles but Oliver Rose’s hat-trick and doubles from Andrew Ross and Atholl Ross as well as efforts from George Martin and Lachlann Macleod sealed Skye’s success. All that was left was for Skye captain Lachlann Macleod to be presented with the trophy. There is reason for both clubs to be optimistic with some great shinty on display. Stephen Campbell, Abbey Anderson and Roan MacVicar were the match officials whilst groundsmen Iain Hay and Willie MacAdam as well as assistance from the MacAulay Association contributed to a great day. Skye Camanachd primaries were inaugural winners of the trophy when they beat Newtonmore primaries 5-2 at Lochaber High School in 2019. The trophy was next contested in 2021 when Newtonmore gained revenge, beating Skye 9-0 at Blairbeg to take the trophy. However, Skye now have the trophy back. |
