Kilmallie and Kingussie Set For Marine Harvest Premiership Play-Off | |
27 November 2015 Kilmallie and Kingussie are set for their Marine Harvest Premiership play-off at the Bught Park on Saturday 28 November 2015. This is the first Marine Harvest Premiership play-off following the league structure changes at the end of last season and the winners will take a place in shinty’s top division next season whilst the losers will play in the Marine Harvest National Division. Kilmallie boss Mark MacPherson hasn’t seen his team in competitive action since they beat Ballachulish at the end of September. They have been training hard and a few players have managed the odd appearance for the second team during October. Kilmallie will have Scotland U17 keeper Shane Gillies in goal whilst Peter Carmichael will marshal a defence which includes Scotland U17 player Craig MacIsaac. Liam Cameron at wing centre is a very under-rated player and Kilmallie's strength is up front where Liam MacDonald, Michael Rodger, Martin Stewart and John Stewart will be a real handful for the Kingussie defence. Kilmallie captain Liam MacDonald featured in both Shinty / Hurling internationals against Ireland; scoring in the first match at the Bught Park. Kingussie defender Lee Bain was also in the Scotland squad and the two players could be in direct opposition in this one. Kingussie co-managers Russell Jones and Davie Anderson will be without Fraser Munro who serves the second game of a two-match suspension for passing the disciplinary points threshold. The Kings last played at the end of October. They were less than 10 minutes away from avoiding the play-off spot before losing 2-1 to Oban Camanachd. Keeper Craig Dawson, full back James Hutchison and Scotland international Lee Bain provide stability in the Kingussie defence whilst youngsters Rory MacKeachan and Callum Grant are now established players in the defence. Scotland U21 cap Rory MacGregor is likely to feature in midfield whilst Savio Genini provides their main goal threat and he’s joined up front by Scotland U17 attacker James Falconer. Louis Munro, James MacLean and John Gibson add experience to the young squad. This much anticipated encounter is sure to be a cracker and a large crowd is expected. The match will be refereed by John Angus Gillies and he will be assisted by goal judges Archie Ritchie and Evan MacRae. Calum Girvan and John Matheson will be the linesmen. Throw up will be at 1pm and there will be extra-time and penalties if necessary. Admission to the game will be £5 with £3 concessions and the proceeds will be split between the participating teams. There will be an 8am Saturday morning pitch inspection at the Bught Park and both Mossfield and Cannich are on stand-by in case the Bught is ruled unplayable. |
