John Barr To Captain Scotland Seniors in 2015 Shinty / Hurling Double-Header Against Ireland | |
20 October 2015 Scotland boss Ronald Ross has confirmed that Glenurquhart’s John Barr will be his captain for the forthcoming 2015 Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international clashes with Ireland. John Barr is one of the most experienced players in the Scotland squad and has won the trust of a number of Scotland managers. He has been troubled with a hamstring problem for part of this season but he is raring to face Ireland on Saturday. Ronald Ross said, “To captain your country is a great honour. Finlay MacRae was proud to do it last year and John is the same. The coaches had a chat about the captain’s position and we agreed that it should be shared around rather than use the same captain every year. I had a chat with Finlay about that and he understands. The coaches all agreed that John was the obvious choice for this year. He is a 32 year old with plenty of experience for his club Glenurquhart and on the international scene. He deserves this accolade."
