07 April 2015 Skye Camanachd notched their first win of the season as they beat Inverness 3-0 in their Marine Harvest National Division clash at the Bught Park outside pitch on Saturday 4 April 2015. Skye Camanachd first team manager John MacLeod was without the services of Neil MacVicar and Shockie MacLennan who were both working. Jamie Gannon remained on the injury list so Iain MacLeod continued in goal. David Grant was with the Skye reserves but Chris MacLennan was added to the squad after his hat-trick for the Skye reserves in the win over Aberdeen University last weekend. There was also a place for Stewart Grant and MacLeod added himself as third substitute. Inverness boss Drew McNeill was without former Skye Camanachd player Somhairle MacDonald for this 1pm throw up as he was on holiday. However another former Skye player, Dougie Rankin, lined-up at wing centre. There was another starting place in defence for 17 year old Chris Johnston and the youngster looks to be a fixture in McNeil’s side this season. The Skye forwards put together a good move on 4 minutes which culminated in a Jordan Murchison volley which was saved by Inverness keeper Adam MacMaster. Skye continued to press and full forward Kenny MacLeod was shown a yellow card by referee Archie Ritchie after an altercation with Inverness full back Innes Simpson. Skye took the lead after 16 minutes when Kenny MacLeod pushed the ball home following a goalmouth scramble to make it 1-0. A low shot from Will Cowie went just the wrong side of the post on 25 minutes. A dangerous 15 yard shot from Jordan Murchison a couple of minutes later was deflected away for a corner. The Skye centre line was beginning to take a grip of game and wing centre Allan MacKinnon was on the receiving end of some heavy challenges. Undeterred, MacKinnon pushed forward and he shot over the top on 29 minutes. Adam Macmaster had to look sharp to turn a Will Cowie effort round the post on the half hour mark. Skye doubled their lead on 35 minutes when Kenny MacLeod picked the ball up around 18 yards out and he fired a crisp low shot past MacMaster to make it 2-0 and notch his second goal of the game. Skye keeper Iain MacLeod was called into action on 40 minutes, turning the ball round the post for the safety of a corner which came to nothing. Adam MacMaster saved from Will Cowie on the stroke of half-time so the Islanders remained two-up at the break. Inverness were forced to make a change at half-time as Innes Simpson had to dash off to work and Drew MacNeil came on in his place at full back. Skye started the second half in dominant mood and, on 50 minutes, Danny Morrison saw his low shot from distance on the right wing, saved by MacMaster. Skye full back Steven Morrison was booked for dissent on 54 minutes. A minute later, a rocket-shot from Jordan Murchison went narrowly past the post. Skye kept the pressure on the Inverness goal-area and when the ball dropped to Jordan Murchison on 65 minutes, he produced a neat finish to make it 3-0. Skye made their first change of the afternoon on 72 minutes when Chris MacLennan came on for Kenny MacLeod. The visitors switched again a couple of minutes later with Stewart Grant replacing Will Cowie and Kenny Campbell moving to the full forward position. Adam MacMaster made saves on 79, 82 and 83 minutes. Skye suffered a blow moments later as Steven Morrison was shown a second yellow card by referee Archie Ritchie for a disputed hand ball. Morrison will now miss Skye’s Balliemore Cup trip to Bute next weekend. Skye shuffled again with Kenny Campbell being withdrawn from the forward line to wing centre, Stewart Grant slotted into wing back and Ally MacDonald went to full back. Inverness full centre Davie Glass was booked for a challenge on Allan MacKinnon who had to be substituted. Skye keeper Iain MacLeod saved well with his feet on 85 minutes in what was the last real chance of the match. This was a good Skye team performance. Ally "Spod" MacLeod and Iain Murray stood out in defence whilst the centre line of Kenny Campbell, Gilleasbuig MacDonald and Allan MacKinnon were dominant. Kenny MacLeod and Danny Morrison put in good shifts up front.
