Inveraray 0 Skye Camanachd 4 | |
24 July 2017 Skye Camanachd returned from The Winterton with two impressive points following a 4-0 win over Inveraray in their Marine Harvest National Division match on Saturday 22 July 2017. Inveraray forward Allan MacDonald started a two-game suspension for passing through the disciplinary points threshold whilst Ally MacDonald was also missing for this 2.30pm throw up. Skye manager Willie Cowie made three changes to the squad which beat Strathglass in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup quarter-finals a fortnight earlier. Defender Ally MacDonald missed his first match in four years due to a wedding. Gilleasbuig MacDonald and Calum Gibb were unavailable and Kenny MacLeod took the Skye second team to Newtonmore. John Gillies was on holiday and Steven Morrison’s season looks to be over through injury. However Jordan Murchison recovered from a foot injury and there were call-ups for Daniel Morrison and Scotland U17 player Connor Gilpin. James Pringle reacted first to give Skye a 14 minute lead when he slammed a rebound low into the bottom left corner of the net after Inveraray keeper Scott MacLachlan had saved from Will Cowie. Iain Nicolson made it 2-0 a minute later when he struck the ball from fully 35 yards out, wide on the right touchline, and it went into the net off the post. A lovely Jordan Murchison pass set up Danny Morrison on 64 minutes and Morrison netted with a low drive from 15 yards out, Jordan Murchison got in on the act on 67 minutes when a clever flick from Will Cowie played him in and he sent a waist-high rocket-shot past the on-rushing keeper. It was a good Skye team performance and they remain a point behind leaders Caberfeidh but with a game in hand.
