Glengarry 2 Skye Camanachd 0 | |
14 March 2022 The Skye Camanachd second team lost 2-0 to Glengarry in their Mowi North Division 1 encounter at Craigard on Saturday 12 March 2022. Skye boss Ally MacDonald made two changes to his squad with Archie MacDonald and Callum Gillies replacing John Angus MacInnes and William James Sutherland. With the Skye first team game called off on Saturday morning, Iain MacLellan was added to the travelling pool. This 2.30pm throw up was Glengarry’s first match of the season. Skye started well but when the home side settled, they pinned the Islanders back for large periods of the first half. Raymond Robertson gave them a 17 minute lead, scoring from outside the D. Nick Dalgety found space before picking out Robertson who scored. Robertson added a second just a minute before the interval. There was a scramble in front of the Skye goal and the ball was pushed out as far as the penalty spot where Robertson ran onto it before finishing well. Skye came more into it in the second half when they probably had the better chances with Ally MacLeod, Raghnall Robertson and James Robertson all going close. However the visitors had to rely on keeper Calum Nicolson to make a couple of good saves near the end. The Skye defence of David MacInnes, Connor Gilpin, Allan MacLeod and Sam Macphee did well against a strong ‘Garry forward line.
