Gill Replaces Fraser In Shock Kinlochshiel Managerial Change | |
22 December 2016 Kinlochshiel became the latest club to change their first team manager as former boss Johnston Gill takes over from Colin Fraser. The Kirkton club advertised the post as part of a club restructure with Colin Fraser throwing his hat into the ring to continue in the role. Fraser’s predecessor Johnston Gill also noted an interest and the membership narrowly voted for Gill’s return to the post. Not many people out-with the club expected change especially as Fraser had led Kinlochshiel to their first major honour last season; winning the Artemis Macaulay Cup. Johnston Gill led Kinlochshiel to the North Division 1 title and promotion to the Premiership in 2011. This was his first season in sole charge of the team having previously co-managed the side with Keith Loades. Gill kept the side in the Premiership in 2012 and 2013 before standing down. The side’s progression continued under new boss Colin Fraser who was promoted from second team manager ahead of the start of the 2014 season. The culmination of Fraser’s three year tenure was the Macaulay Cup success and a fourth place Premiership finish at the end of the 2016 season, their highest league placing ever. It’s a big season for Kinlochshiel as they move to their new home at Balmacara whilst also looking to build on their 2016 successes on the field of play. |
