Elgol & Lochcarron Top Annual Lochcarron Tournaments | |
27 April 2016 Lochcarron Camanachd ran their annual P1-4 and P4-7 girls tournaments over two weeks in April 2016. Twelve teams took part across both competitions, with sides from Portree, North End, Lochcarron, South Skye, Sleat and Elgol. Both tournaments were very close and competitive with plenty shinty skills on show. P1-4 Tournament After the round-robin games had been completed in the P1-4 tournament, a strong performance from Elgol saw them beat Lochcarron in the first semi-final. The second semi-final was between South Skye Eagles and South Skye Ravens with the Eagles emerging as winners. The final was a close affair with Elgol, who played very well all evening and support this tournament each year, managing to overcome the Eagles to emerge as the winners on the night. Iona Boyle from South Skye Ravens was given the P1-4 Player of the Tournament award - a commemorative plaque from Lochcarron Camanachd. Camanachd Association Development Officer Katie Drain was in attendance and refereed the P1-4 event. P 4-7 Tournament There were some very close round-robin games in the P4-7 tournament as Elgol, Portree A, Lochcarron and Sleat edged into the semi-finals. Lochcarron played Sleat in the first semi-final with Lochcarron coming out on top. Portree A went on to win their semi-final, beating a strong Elgol team 1-0. The final was again a very competitive match with Maree MacKenzie scoring the only goal of the game to give Lochcarron a 1-0 victory. Three P4-7 Player of the Tournament awards were made; to Rachel and Amy from Elgol and Beth from Lochcarron. They were each presented with a commemorative plaque from Lochcarron Camanachd. |
