02 January 2018 Camanachd Association Youth Director, Willie MacDonald accepted a cheque for £650 on behalf of the Camanachd Association from Ruaridh MacPhee, former Scotland international Niall MacPhee and current Scotland U 21 captain Arran MacPhee, all brothers of the late Fraser MacPhee. The money was raised at the Fraser MacPhee Sixes tournament which was held at An Aird on Sunday 18 June 2017. The MacPhee family said, “Every year, our team work hard to ensure everyone attending our tournament is well catered for and entertained and generously ask us to donate the proceeds raised to a worthy cause. We have admired the efforts of Ronald Ross and Katie Drain in particular at the Disability Festival and think this is an event very worthy of supporting .We also hope that one day an additional disability festival could be held at Fort William.“ Willie MacDonald added, “The Fraser MacPhee Sixes has grown over the years and is now one of the biggest six-a-side tournaments for youth within the shinty calendar. The event is run superbly well and the kids and coaches are so well looked after, which is great credit to the MacPhee family. “To raise money for good causes in the process is fantastic and it always goes to something for children / youths and / or shinty. This time it is the Camanachd Association’s National Disability First Shinty Festival, which is another wonderful event, which is benefitting, this donation is much appreciated.” |
