Davie Glass Makes Kinlochshiel Switch | |
19 February 2013 Kinlochshiel manager Johnston Gill has confirmed that Davie Glass will join the west coast side ahead of the 2013 shinty season. Davie Glass has been an influential figure at Inverness Shinty Club for almost 20 years but he will swap the Bught Park for Kirkton and the chance of top flight shinty. “Davie Glass has been a loyal and faithful servant to Inverness for many a year,” said Johnston Gill, “So we were delighted when he approached us. He is a player who has experience and he is a leader on the park. He will also be a positive influence on our younger players so we are very pleased indeed to have him.” It could be a much changed ‘Shiel side which starts the season against Kingussie compared to the one which played them in the corresponding fixture last season. Gill explained, “We could be minus five or six players from the team which opened against Kingussie last season. Defender Calum MacLean will miss the early part of the season and our keeper Graham Kennedy is building a house. Steven Callander has stopped playing and there are others who could be missing. We are fortunate to have Scott Kennedy who can play in goal but these changes have an effect on our second tem where Kennedy, for example, has been doing a great job at full back.” Gill added, “Having Davie Glass on board will help and he can play in defence or midfield and we give him to opportunity to play in the Premiership and maybe have some cup runs. We discussed everything with Inverness and everything was above board.” Inverness President Peter Gow agreed and he said, “This is a great opportunity for Davie and as a club, we couldn’t stand in his way. He has been a wonderful servant to Inverness and joins Kinlochshiel with our blessing. The move was all done above board and we wish Davie and Kinlochshiel all the best for the coming season.” |
