Colin Fraser Pleased To See Side Lift George Michie Memorial Cup | |
11 December 2014 Kinlochshiel first team manager Colin Fraser was pleased to see his side lift the 2014 George Michie Memorial Cup with a 5-0 win over Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 29 November 2014. Speaking to Cuillin FM’s “Camanachd Live” show after the match and trophy presentation, Fraser said, “That was a good game. It was quite close actually but I thought we played better in the second half than we did in the first half. We knew Skye would come at us from the start with the home support behind them so we expected a hard opening 15-20 minutes. We made a couple of changes (at half time) and they seemed to work out for us.” Kinlochshiel had Zander Grant back in the fold after a season with Inverness and he came on at half time. There is also a chance that defenders John Don MacKenzie and Calum MacLean could feature more regularly in 2015. Fraser said, “It’s good to have options because last year we didn’t have a lot of options because of injuries. So hopefully all our players will be back for the new season and we’ll stay injury free. We’ve been in talks with John Don and Calum and it really just depends on their work.” One absentee next term could be keeper Scott Kennedy who is considering retirement although his team mates may yet persuade him otherwise. Work is also well underway on Kinlochshiel’s new pitch at Balmacara. It had been suggested that some matches might take place there towards the end of the 2015 shinty season but Fraser added, “I would think it’s more likely to be the year after.” Kinlochshiel have their Annual General Meeting at 7.30pm in Dornie Village Hall on Friday 12 December 2014. Colin Fraser is likely receive unanimous backing to continue as first team manager after leading the side to their best finish in the Orion Group Premiership as they ended the 2013 season in seventh place. The Kinlochshiel squad travel to the Bught Park on Saturday 13 December 2014 to play Inverness in a friendly match. Throw up is at 11.30am. |
