Camanachd Association Remind Clubs Of Match Guideline | |
10 April 2014 The Camanachd Association has taken the opportunity to remind clubs of the match procedures as detailed in the Club Fixtures Handbook In an e-mail to clubs, Camanachd Association Operations Manager Astie Cameron said that, “There have been a number of instances so far this season where the procedures as detailed in the Club Fixtures Handbook have not been followed.” Home clubs should:
All clubs should ensure:
The full Playing a Match Club Guidelines issued to clubs are as follows: The timetable below is intended to provide a guide for fixture secretaries but must be considered alongside the relevant byelaws, particularly in the event of unplayable fields. Clubs are advised to contact the Camanachd Association on 01463 715931 should they require clarification on any matter. Weekly Planner Saturday The confirmed fixture list for the following week, including the allocated referee, will be sent to appointed club representatives by e-mail and will be available at www.shinty.com Wednesday (at the latest) The Home club must contact the allocated referee to confirm arrangements and to confirm who the club contact will be on the day of the match. The home club should also confirm if the referee will be bringing their own goal judges or will require each club to provide a goal judge. The home club must contact the opposition to confirm start time and directions if required, also whether they are required to provide a goal judge.
Thursday & Friday
The Home club must contact the Camanachd Association, opposition and referee if the game is in doubt due to pitch conditions, following which the Camanachd Association will advise on further action in accordance with the byelaws, e.g. reversal of fixture or identify suitable alternative ground. Following advice from the Camanachd Association, the home club should make appropriate contingency arrangements to switch the game to the opposition field of play or an alternative ground approved by the Camanachd Association. The home club should ensure that the Camanachd Association, opposition and referee are kept informed of contingency arrangements throughout. The Home club should agree with the opposition then confirm to the Camanachd Association and referee a deadline for a final decision on the condition of the pitch (e.g. 9am on Saturday morning). This deadline must take into account the intended departure time of the opposition and should also allow for travel to the identified alternative ground or opposition’s ground if the fixture is reversed. If the pitch is deemed unplayable prior to the deadline notice must first be given to the Camanachd Association who will then advise on further action; contingency plans should not be implemented by the Home club until instructed to do so by the Camanachd Association.
Saturday
As above, if the pitch is deemed unplayable by the agreed deadline notice must first be given to the Camanachd Association who will then advise on further action; contingency plans should not be implemented by the Home club until instructed to do so by the Camanachd Association. Following instruction from the Camanachd Association, it is the home club’s responsibility to inform the opposition and the match referee of any change to arrangements. The home club should arrange to meet the referee on arrival at least one hour prior to the start of the match. Clubs are requested to provide a clean, clear changing room for the referee if at all possible.
Summary As detailed in the byelaws, it is the obligation of the scheduled home club to provide a suitable pitch for the fixture. This should be their named home ground, but if unavailable can be a suitable alternative ground agreed with the Camanachd Association. If the home club is unable to provide a pitch the fixture will be reversed to the home ground of the opposition. If the opposition is unable to provide a pitch then the COO will consider suitable alternative grounds that are available and may authorise the transfer of the game to that ground. Previously we have not sought to reverse a league fixture for a second time, however in an effort to get games played, the Camanachd Association will consider reversing the second fixture if the field of the Home club is again unplayable and they are unable to identify a suitable alternative. Pitches should be clearly lined, and goals and nets in good order and to the satisfaction of the match referee upon inspection. Pitches should be fenced off as per Bye-law 1.1.13/14. With an appropriate spectator area marked as a minimum. |
