Bute Prepare For New Season | |
25 January 2018 Bute Shinty Club held their Annual General Meeting earlier this month. John MacCallum and Iain McDonald take over as first team managers in what could be a big year for the club. Bute started the 2017 shinty season with a points deduction after opting to drop down from the National. However there will be no handicap this year and the Islanders, who eventually finished fourth last year, will start the new season as one of the title favourites. Chrissy Lawrence will captain the first team whilst Ryan James Craig will be vice-captain. The Bute second team will again compete in Marine Harvest South Division 2 where they also finished fourth last term. James Craig will manage the side and look to continue to develop the club’s batch of promising younger players. Neil McKirdy will be second team captain and the vice-captain is still to be confirmed. The fitness and training coach will be David McVey. There is a strong back-room team with Barry Martin continuing as chairman. Jimmy Duncan is vice-chairman, Alan Liddell is secretary and David Herriot is treasurer. Other duties include Child Protection Officer, Julie Robertson, Youth Convenor, Iain McDonald and Clubhouse Convenor, James Craig. They will be supported by committee members Gordon Harvey, Hector Whitelaw, Duncan Cowan, John Whitelaw, Tam McKirdy, Tom McMillan and John McIntyre. |
