Beauly 3 Skye Camanachd 0 | |
20 May 2013 The Skye Camanachd first team were on the road for the third successive weekend as they travelled to Braeview Park for a Marine Harvest North Division 1 meeting with Beauly on Saturday 18 May 2013. The sides had met once already this season when an early David MacLean goal gave Beauly a 1-0 win in their clash at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Second place Beauly only trailed leaders Kilmallie on goal difference going into the game with Skye a point behind in third place but having played a game more. Beauly co-managers Stephen MacLean and Iain Morrison had keeper MacKay Murray back after he missed last weekend’s Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup win over Strathglass. Forward Jack MacDonald returned from suspension and he started on the bench. Skye manager Willie MacRae was without Jordan Murchison who was banned following his red card in the 5-0 league win over Inverness last weekend. Danny Morrison, who scored twice in that game, was on holiday but Darryl Macintosh was included after passing a late fitness test and he started up front. Midfielder Gilleasbuig MacDonald and forward Ally MacDonald also returned to the side. Youngsters Jack Latton and Ally MacCrimmon were on the bench. Skye played well in the early part of the game without getting anything tangible for their efforts. The visiting centre line dominated during these early stages but the closest the Islanders came was from a couple of Darryl Macintosh efforts which went over the bar. Beauly introduced substitute Jack MacDonald during the first period and he got the only goal of the first half on 42 minutes when he latched onto a poor clearance out of the Skye defence and sent a beautiful 25 yard shot into the visiting net to make it 1-0. The Beauly centre line dominated proceedings from the start of the second half and they added to their tally on 52 minutes when Marc MacLachlan was allowed two attempts to shoot before scoring from 10 yards. Skye keeper Michael Nicolson got his foot to the ball but he couldn’t stop it rolling over the line. Ross Forbes made it 3-0 on 62 minutes when Skye keeper Michael Nicolson was dispossessed at the edge of the D and Forbes nipped in to score. Beauly now top the table, two points ahead of Kilmallie who have a game in hand as the pair look to have a fascinating title race ahead. Best for Skye were Kenny Campbell, Steven Morrison and Will Cowie.
