12 July 2016 The Skye Camanachd colts collected two valuable points with a 3-0 win over the Beauly colts in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 encounter at Braeview Park on Saturday 9 July 2016. Beauly second team manager Neil Brindle was without Oran MacDonald for this 2.30pm throw up as he was suspended for passing through the disciplinary points threshold. Kieran MacTavish, Craig Rankin, Iain Rankin and Marc MacLachlan were with the Beauly senior side. Skye boss Davie Pringle made four changes to the squad which lost to Strathglass in their league meeting in Portree a week earlier. Captain David Grant and keeper Iain MacLeod were unavailable and defender Neil John Campbell and full centre Ally “Cleodi” MacLeod were called up by the first team. John Angus MacInnes was back from holiday and Thomas Wilson and youngsters Martin Pringle and Sam MacPhee were added to the squad. Ryan Morrison took over in goal. There were six U17 players with three other players aged U21 in the Skye squad. Skye missed a couple of chances before going in front. Ross Gordon was given a start for Skye after scoring his first goal at second team level against Strathglass a week earlier and he repaid his manager’s faith with a goal after 18 minutes to put the visitors 1-0 ahead. Skye had a grip of the midfield area. Thomas Wilson played well at full centre against Sandy Tulloch in a tough but fair battle whilst young Skye wing centres Ross Nicolson and Connor Gilpin came out on top against their opponents. Another Skye youngster, Ruaraidh MacLeod, made it 2-0 on 40 minutes. Skye extended their lead through John Angus MacInnes, who caused the Beauly defence problems all afternoon, and he sealed the win with a goal after 72 minutes. This was a much improved performance from Skye and the younger players were allowed to flourish thanks solid performances from the more experienced Andrew Banks, Allan MacLeod, Thomas Wilson and John Angus MacInnes. Substitutes John MacKenzie, Martin Pringle and Sam MacPhee came on and didn’t look out of place. The win lifts Skye a couple of places to sixth in the table.
