Badenoch Ladies 2 Skye Camanachd Ladies 3 | |
06 April 2016 The Skye Camanachd Ladies impressive start to the season continued as they survived a second half comeback to beat Badenoch & Strathspey Ladies 3-2 in their Marine Harvest National Division 1 encounter the at the Dell on Sunday 3 April 2016. Skye Camanachd Ladies Head Coach Robbie Gordon initially made just one change to the squad which beat Glasgow Mid Argyll Ladies at Yoker a fortnight earlier as Jenna Beaton was unavailable and Anna MacDonald returned to the pool. However two Scottish internationalists were also missing as Emma Gordon was a late call-off and Caitlin MacLean was unable to get back from a trip abroad in time for the 12.30pm throw up. Skye took the lead midway through the first half when Lorna MacRae scored after a good passing move to make it 1-0 with 21 minutes played. The returning Anna MacDonald shot past Badenoch & Strathspey and Scotland keeper Janette MacGregor make it 2-0. Anna MacDonald got her second and Skye’s third from a tight angle and the visitors took the 3-0 advantage into the break. Badenoch knew that they had to do more in the second half and they made changes, including deploying keeper Janette MacGregor in attack. The switch paid off almost immediately as MacGregor pulled a goal back just a couple of minutes after the restart. There was concern for Skye when Janette MacGregor got her second goal of the afternoon on 61 minutes when she took advantage of a mix-up in the Skye defence to make it 3-2. Skye rallied though and they went close to adding to their tally through Lorna MacRae and Kirsty Dibble during the remainder of the match. Referee Dallas Young’s final whistle signalled a third successive league win for Skye and they top Marine Harvest WCA National Division 1 with a 100% record. Next up is another away day; this time to Spean Bridge to play Lochaber Ladies on Sunday 17 April 2016.
