Alison Beaton – Thank You! | |
06 June 2018 Skye Camanachd celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2017 and the club organised several events to commemorate the occasion. Alison Beaton, Archive Assistant at the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre, pulled together an exhibition to celebrate our club's place in the community since we were formed as a constituted club in 1892. By using both her local knowledge and contacts, Alison was able to organise and plan an exhibition that so poignantly portrayed the history of Skye Camanachd and the individuals who have played a part in the success of the club. Many items were loaned to the Archive Centre and some have been donated for safe-keeping in order that these items can be retained for future generations. Alison carefully set about logging and creating a very special archive and the club is extremely grateful for her efforts. The numerous visitors at the Archive Centre were stunned by the quality of the items on display and the way it was all put together by Alison and others at the Archive Centre. Whilst other members of staff assisted in this exhibition, Skye Camanachd feels that Alison's enthusiasm and energy made this event the success that it clearly has been. Indeed the exhibition was so popular that it was extended until the end of April. In today's busy life it is sometimes very difficult to get the younger generation to acknowledge their club's past. With Alison's help we achieved something special. Skye Camanachd would like to formally recognise Alison’s wonderful contribution and pass on out grateful thanks for her help, and that of her colleagues, in creating such a fantastic exhibition. |
