28 February 2018 The final of shinty’s blue riband trophy, the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup, will take place at Mossfield, Oban on Saturday 15 September 2018. This will be the 111th Camanachd Cup Final which takes place in the Camanachd Association’s 125th year. Camanachd Association President Keith Loades said, “We are delighted to announce that the 2018 Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final will be held at Mossfield in Oban. This year’s final represents a significant opportunity across Argyll and Bute and beyond to raise the profile of shinty and work together to engage even more people in Scotland’s most indigenous team sport, shinty.” Tulloch Homes Chief Executive George Fraser said, “Tulloch Homes were delighted with their first year’s sponsorship of the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup and look forward to this year’s tournament culminating in the final in Oban, a great venue. I am sure the Cup will throw up a few surprise results along the way but the winner, as always, will be worthy of it. We wish all the teams the very best.” Roddy McCuish, Councillor for Oban South and the Isles added, “We are looking forward to welcoming the Camanachd Cup to Oban, especially in such a prestigious year for the association. The whole town is looking forward to a great final in a great venue in Oban. It's great for Oban and great for Argyll and Bute.” Oban last hosted the final in 2015 when Lovat beat Kyles Athletic 2-1 in the final to lift the trophy for the first time since 1953. The final will be shown live on BBC Two Scotland and on the BBC Sport website. |
