2018 Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling / Camogie Internationals – 5 Days To Go! | |
15 October 2018 The Scotland captains have been confirmed ahead of the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling / Camogie internationals against Irish opposition at the Bught Park on Saturday 20 October 2018. Kyles Athletic’s Grant Irvine will captain the Scotland senior side in their Marine Harvest Quaich match against Ireland. Irvine said: “It’s an absolute honour to be named Scotland captain. I found out at the end of last week and it’s not really until you are asked that you realise what an honour it is as so few shinty players get the opportunity, particularly players from the South, and it means the world to me.” The Scotland Ladies will be skippered against Dublin Ladies by Badenoch & Strathspey’s Kirsty Deans. Deans said: “It means everything to me to be named Scotland captain. When (managers) Ross (Brown) and Stuart (Reid) phoned, I was speechless to begin with to be honest. When you get into the squad it’s something you work up to; that next level when you are given that additional responsibility within the squad and it’s really exciting.” The Scotland Ladies vice-captains are Skye Camanachd’s Caitlin MacLean and Badenoch & Strathspey’s Rona Stewart.
