Aberdour 1 Inveraray 3
Two goals in the last 20 minutes gave Inveraray a 3-1 win over Aberdour in their 3pm throw up at Silver Sands.
Aberdour, who play in a league below their rivals, went into the tie without John Martin Phillips after a hand injury sustained in the Balliemore Cup win over Col Glen the previous weekend left him with broken knuckles.
Inveraray were minus four regulars, including David Robertson, as they attended the wedding of first team player David MacPherson.
Aberdour made the better start to the tie but Inveraray player / manager Ruaraidh Graham took an 18 minute chance to give his side the lead.
The goal boosted Inveraray and they went on to have the better of the first half without adding to their tally.
They were made to pay when Aberdour levelled thanks to a great shot from Angus Thorburn on 65 minutes.
The second half was end-to-end but it was Inveraray who went back in front thanks to an Allan MacDonald goal on 70 minutes.
Aberdour thought they had equalised for a second time when a Roddy MacColl strike pinged off the post.
Aberdour had lost two key defenders due to injury during the match and Inveraray sealed the win a couple of minutes from time when Lewis Montgomery took advantage of a lapse in concentration in the ‘Dour defence to score.
This was Aberdour’s first defeat of the season but they certainly shouldn’t be down-hearted as this was a close encounter and they competed well against higher league opposition.
The Inveraray squad went off to celebrate their win at their team-mate David MacPherson’s wedding evening reception.

Glasgow Mid Argyll 1 Inveraray 2
Inveraray are through to the Gregor Cameron Consultancy Glasgow Celtic Society Cup Final after they beat Glasgow Mid Argyll 2-1 in their 3pm throw up at a hot Peterson Park, Yoker.
GMA were along usual lines whilst Inveraray had David MacPherson and Ally MacDonald back and both started on the bench. However John Kennedy, Ally Munro and Grant Griffin were all missing.
GMA suffered a blow after just 30 seconds when top scorer Craig Anderson had to come off with the suspected recurrence of a leg injury which hampered him for much of last season.
The home side were by far the better team in the first half. They looked up for the tie and showed a great will to win. Euan Murray dictated play in the GMA midfield and the home centre line and half backs controlled the game.
GMA went ahead from a corner on 25 minutes when Calum McLay punished some poor defending with a well-taken finish at the back post.
It could have been 2-0 just before half-time but for a brilliant Scott MacLachlan save from Garry Luke.
Inveraray boss Ruaraidh Graham made changes at the break with David MacPherson coming on and Lewis MacNicol being pushed into the forward line.
It was a fired-up Inveraray who started the second have and GMA would pay for not capitalising on their first half dominance.
Inveraray started to get a grip of the game and they now controlled the midfield.
Lewis MacNicol scored a great equaliser from a tight angle on 55 minutes after good build-up play between Gary MacPherson and David Robertson.
Gary MacPherson put Inveraray in front on 63 minutes with a shot that took a wicked bounce in front of GMA keeper Jonathon Oates and ended up in the back of the net.
GMA tried to get the goal that would have taken the tie to extra-time but the Inveraray defence held out with young Ross Montgomery putting in another strong performance.
GMA will be disappointed they never made the most of their first half chances but it’s Inveraray who will now face the winners of this coming weekend’s semi-final tie between Oban Camanachd and Kyles Athletic.
Robert Baxter was the match referee.
