08 September 2016 Tayforth and Kilmory take part in the Bullough Cup Final at Strachurmore on Saturday 10 September 2016. Tayforth have been in impressive form in this year’s tournament.
Bullough Cup – First Round Saturday 14 May 2016 Tayforth 2 Lochside Rovers 2 (after extra-time - Taynuilt won 4-3 on penalties) Bullough Cup holders Tayforth turned in a fine performance to edge out Lochside Rovers on a sudden-death penalty shoot-out at Levenhall Links. Throw up was brought forward to noon to allow the Lochside players to return home to attend the Oban Live Music Festival. Lochside Rovers currently top Marine Harvest South Division 1 with Tayforth topping the South’s second tier so the visitors started as favourites. Tayforth opened the match well though and goals from Finlay Stark after 5 minutes and Connor Sweeney after 11 minutes put them 2-0 ahead. Michael MacQueen pulled a gaol back for Lochside 3 minutes after the restart. And that’s the way it stayed until 4 minutes from time when Craig MacMillan drew Lochside Rovers level. With no further scoring during the extra-time period, referee David Mitchell took the tie to a penalty shoot-out. The five nominated Tayforth penalty-takers were: Ewan Menzies, Conor Sweeney, Orsten Gardiner, Hamish Anderson and Finlay Stark. Menzies and Stark saw their penalties saved but the others all scored so the shoot-out was tied at 3-3 and went to sudden-death. Ewan Menzies then scored for Tayforth but Lochside missed their spot-hit so Tayforth won 4-3 Tayforth now will start as favourites when they host the Bute second team in the Bullough Cup quarter-finals on Saturday 11 June 2016.
Bullough Cup – Quarter Finals Saturday 11 June 2016 Tayforth 7 Bute 0 Tayforth were too strong for a young Bute second team, winning 7-0 in their Bullough Cup quarter-final tie at Levenhall Links. Orsten Gardener put Tayforth ahead after just 5 minutes of this 2pm throw up. Connor Sweeney added a second on 25 minutes and Brendan Duggan made it 3-0 just 4 minutes later. Connor Sweeney got his second on 37 minutes and to make it 4-0 at the interval. Orsten Gardener got his second to make it 5-0 just 7 minutes into the second half before Neil Shearer on 55 minutes and Guy Berg on 78 minutes rounded off the 7-0 triumph.
Bullough Cup – Semi Finals Saturday 30 July 2016 Glasgow Mid Argyll 1 Tayforth 7 Tayforth reached the Bullough Cup Final after they defeated the Glasgow Mid Argyll seconds 7-1 at Yoker. A Brendan Duggan hat-trick, two from Calum Barton and goals from Conor Sweeney and Hamish Anderson all counted for Tayforth with Angus MacInnes countering for GMA. Ewen MacDonald was the match referee. Tayforth will now play Kilmory in an all-Marine Harvest South Division 2 Bullough Cup Final on Saturday 27 August 2016.
