2015 Michael Kosman Shinty Memorial Cup | |
04 September 2015 Shinty will once again take centre stage at the 150th Pleasanton Scottish Games and SCOTS Camanachd are one of the competing teams for the 2015 Michael Kosman Memorial Cup which will be contested on both Saturday 5 September 2015 and Sunday 6 September 2015. SCOTS Camanachd will join Northern California Camanachd, Central Cal, and a Pacific North-West team in what promises to be one of the largest shinty events to date in the US. This is very first time that a team from outside the US has competed in the sixes tournament for the Michael Kosman Memorial Cup and a bust round of fixtures will begin at 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a number of other events at the Pleasanton Scottish Games including pipe band competitions, whisky tasting, heavy athletics, Scottish Country and Highland dancing, as well as a number of clan tents and merchant booths. The Michael Kosman Memorial Cup will be presented to the winners on the Sunday evening, along with the other major trophies, in front the grandstand between the massed band numbers. Chief Lachlan MacLean of Castle Duart will present Challenge Coins to the players at the end of Saturday’s games.
