The Artemis Macaulay Cup draw is one of the first signs that the new shinty season is just around the corner.
In recent seasons the draw has been made in mid-December and it has taken place live on Oban FM’s Sports View programme.
The 2013 Artemis Macaulay Cup will feature the top eight placed North and top eight placed South sides from the 2012 league shinty season. The teams are then drawn in a regional format right up to the final which takes place at Mossfield, Oban.
The sides which finished in the North’s top eight league positions in 2012 were; Newtonmore, Lovat, Fort William, Glenurquhart, Kingussie, Kinlochshiel, Kilmallie, and Lochaber and they are exactly the same sides which represented the North last season.
The top eight league placed South teams were Kyles Athletic, Inveraray, Bute, Oban Camanachd, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Glenorchy, Taynuilt and Oban Celtic. Oban Celtic replace Ballachulish from the 2012 competition.
Glenurquhart won the 2012 Artemis Macaulay Cup, beating Oban Camanachd 6-0 in the final.
We will bring you news of this year’s draw as soon as it is confirmed by the Macaulay Association.
