18 July 2013 Bute and Beauly meet in the Balliemore Cup Final in the Balliemore Cup Final at Jubilee Park, Ballachulish on Saturday 20 July 2013. Beauly have yet to win the Balliemore Cup. They have played in the final twice before; losing to Bute in Beauly in 2006 and they were defeated by Lochaber last year. Beauly received a bye in the 2013 Balliemore Cup first round and they had good wins against difficult opponents to reach the final.
Balliemore Cup Quarter Final Saturday 8 June 2013 Beauly 5 Glasgow Mid Argyll 1 Beauly reached the Balliemore Cup semi finals with a 5-1 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll in their 3pm throw up at Braeview Park. The home side were without Conor Ross. David MacLean gave Beauly an 8 minute lead and Ross Forbes made it 2-0 just 3 minutes later. When Jack MacDonald collected the ball in space on 37 minutes, he needed no second invitation to bullet a shot into the net. A turn and shot from Marc MacLachlan a minute into the second half ended the tie as a contest and although Garry Luke netted for GMA on 69 minutes, Barrie MacDonald was on target on 76 minutes to seal a 5-1 victory. Beauly will now play the winners of next week’s tie between Skye Camanachd and Kilmallie in the semi final stage.
Balliemore Cup - Semi Final Saturday 29 June 2013 Kilmallie 1 Beauly 4 Beauly will meet Bute in the 2013 Balliemore Cup Final following their 4-1 win in their 1.30pm throw up against Kilmallie at Blairbeg. Beauly were without injured fullback Scott MacLeod so Conor Cormack dropped back to replace him. Keeper Kevin Toye returned for Kilmallie after missing their win on Skye the previous weekend. A spectacular strike from Conor Ross gave Beauly a 12 minute lead and Barrie MacDonald made it 2-0 on 28 minutes from the penalty spot when Sean Stewart was brought down inside the D. Jack MacDonald made it 3-0 on the hour mark and to make matters worse for Kilmallie, defender Iain Robertson was sent off by referee John Angus Gillies for a bad challenge on Barrie MacDonald. Beauly were impressive in all departments and it was no surprise when Marc MacLachlan made it 4-0 on 67 minutes. Young forward Martin Munro scored a consolation goal for Kilmallie 5 minutes from time.
Admission for the 2013 Balliemore Cup Final is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and under 12s go free when accompanied by a paying adult. Camanachd Association members will receive a 20% discount on ticket prices if they show their membership card at the gate. Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be on sale at the Ballachulish Clubhouse. Throw-up is 2.30pm and Daniel MacRae is the match referee. |
