15 August 2013 Kyles Athletic and Newtonmore meet in the Artemis Macaulay Cup Final at Mossfield on Saturday 17 August 2013. Newtonmore have been in ruthless form in the run to this year’s final, scoring seventeen goals and conceding just once in their three ties.
Saturday 11 May 2013 Artemis Macaulay Cup - First Round Newtonmore 5 Lochaber 0 Newtonmore left it late before beating Lochaber 5-0 at the Eilan in what was a repeat of last year’s Co-operative MacTavish Cup Final. Lochaber’s Martin Johnston was unavailable because of a one match ban for a points accumulation. The first half ended goalless but Newtonmore took the lead on 54 minutes through Fraser MacKintosh. It took Danny MacRae to put some gloss on the final result with a hat-trick on 68, 84 and 86 minutes. Glen MacKintosh added a goal in the final minute to make it 5-0
Saturday 22 June 2013 Artemis Macaulay Cup - Quarter Final Newtonmore 8 Fort William 1 Newtonmore will play Lovat in the Artemis Macaulay Cup semi finals following their 8-1 win over a strong Fort William side in their 3pm throw up at the Eilan. Danny MacRae fired ‘More into an opening minute lead whilst Fraser MacKintosh made it 2-0 on 9 minutes. Glen MacKintosh doubled Newtonmore’s advantage when he scored on 15 and 33 minutes to make it 4-0. Newtonmore’s Rory Kennedy is continuing his recovery from injury and he made it 5-0 a couple of minutes later and his side took this lead into the break. Ewan Campbell provided some respite for Fort William when he netted after 50 minutes but Newtonmore were relentless and Danny MacRae got his second goal of the afternoon 3 minutes later to make it 6-1. Glen MacKintosh completed his hat-trick on 77 minutes and a couple of minutes later, a Calum Stewart shot deflected off Fort defender Mark Grant to complete an 8-1 triumph.
Saturday 20 July 2013 Artemis Macaulay Cup - Semi Final Newtonmore 4 Lovat 0 Newtonmore will face Kyles Athletic in the 2013 Artemis Macaulay Cup Final following their 4-0 win over Lovat in their 3pm throw up at the Bught Park. Lovat went into the game without the suspended Martin Mainland whilst his twin brother Craig Mainland missed out through injury. Glen MacKintosh fired ‘More into a 17 minute lead and Danny MacRae made it 2-0 on 32 minutes. Newtonmore had other chances but, once again, they found Lovat keeper Stuart MacDonald to be a formidable barrier. However another two goals from Glen MacKintosh on 88 and 90 minutes completed his hat-trick and sealed the 4-0 triumph. Steven MacDonald turned in a man of the match performance for an on-form Newtonmore side who are still in the hunt for three national trophies. Innes Wood was the match referee.
Colin MacDonald is the match referee for this much anticipated clash. Admission is just £5 for adults with £3 concessions and U12s get free entry. Throw up is at 2pm and the whole match will be televised live on BBC2 Scotland. |
