Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil says that speculation linking him with the first team manager’s post at Glenurquhart is “premature” following weekend reports that the former Fort William boss is set to take over at Blairbeg.
McNeil has been heavily linked with the Glenurquhart job following Jim Barr’s decision to step down but he is unhappy that speculation has detracted from the focus on the weekend’s international.
“The weekend should’ve been all about the International and the great display from the players,” said McNeil who has completed his two year tenure in charge of the Scots. “I will be re-applying for the National Manger’s post once the process comes around and I will speak to the Camanachd Association surrounding any club commitment.”
“Last year I enjoyed being allowed to coach Glenurquhart pre-season. It then developed into midweek as the season started. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with the club and in particular assisting first team manager Jim Barr. Linking me with the Glenurquhart manager’s job is premature.”
McNeil remains favourite to take charge at Blairbeg but it seems there is more talking to be done before matters are confirmed.
