Ireland v Scotland – Shinty / Hurling International …………. 3 Days To Go! | |
19 October 2011 Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil is sure his new caps can make a big impact in the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international double header against Ireland. Speaking on local radio station Cuillin FM, Drew McNeil spoke about new caps, Gavin Stobbart, Donald Irvine, Daniel Cameron, Robbie MacLeod, Kevin Bartlett and Keith MacRae when he said, “I hope they can produce the same impact as we got from the new caps last year when Grant Irvine and Roddy MacDonald came in and did so well. We are looking for these boys to be involved in the international set-up for a number of years to come.” Referring to brothers Finlay MacRae and Keith MacRae from Kinlochshiel, McNeil commented, “Finlay MacRae is an established international now and Keith MacRae was extremely unfortunate to miss out last year. He had an injury which hampered him and he just missed out on the final squad but was named on the stand-by list. Keith has been free of injury this year and he’s made all the sessions. He’s had a great season where he captained Kinlochshiel to the North Division 1 title and he’s just a cracking wee player.” The Ireland and Scotland senior sides meet at Athy, Co. Kildare in the first test on Saturday 22 October 2011. The match may be streamed live over the internet by Irish channel TG4. There will be delayed coverage of the match on BBC ALBA at 4pm on Sunday 23 October 2011. The second test between Scotland and Ireland takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011. The match starts at 2pm and will be shown live on BBC2 Scotland if you are unable to make the game. The second test will be preceded by a Challenge Shinty / Camogie match between Scotland and the British Universities side which starts at 10.30am.
