18 September 2011 Newtonmore’s hat-trick hero Danny MacRae could hardly put into words what winning the 2011 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup meant to his side following their 4-3 extra time win over Kingussie at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 17 September 2011. Moments after the final whistle, an emotional Danny MacRae told the BBC’s Dougie Vipond, “It’s unbelievable. I don’t know if I can put it into words. It means everything. When they got it back to 3-3, my heart was racing. It was unbelievable to get a hat-trick and the winning goal but for the village and the team it means so, so much." On his winning goal which came just 5 minutes from time, Macrae said, "I just saw the ball and I hit it. It went through a ruck of players and when I saw it hit the back of the net, it was unbelievable." |
