Skye Boss MacVicar Happy To Take The Points. | |
18 August 2011 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar was pleased to take both points following his team’s 6-2 Marine Harvest North Division 2 win over Kinlochshiel at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 13 August 2011. . Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show after the game MacVicar said, “There is a lot to be pleased about with this result, particularly our movement up front. David Grant played full forward in the first half and set up both goals. Then Danny Morrison came on at the break and his mobility gave us other options.” MacVicar saw his side lose a two goal lead towards the end of the first half and said, “I was somewhat disappointed to come in level at half time because although we were playing against a stiff breeze, I felt we had by far the best of the game. Kinlochshiel were difficult opposition and they were dogged and determined throughout the game but I felt our forwards and our finishing was the difference in the end. I thought Will Cowie’s overall play was super and I was disappointed for him that he didn’t get on the score-sheet because he deserved a goal. The speed of movement off the ball is what causes defences problems and we have been drumming that into the forwards.” The Skye boss also had a word for his first team counter-part Aonghas MacDonald who stepped in as an emergency referee for the game. “Aonghas refereed the game very well and Colin Fraser was also very complementary of his performance,” he said. Looking ahead to next week, MacVicar said, “We are away to Lochaber next week and I’ve already got concerns as having spoken to Aonghas, I know he will be a few players short and that will have a knock-on effect on our line up so we could be as many as five or six short from today’s squad.” |
