2011 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Semi Finals - Preview. | |
10 August 2011 There are injuries and suspensions to contend with as the 2011 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup semi finalists head for Spean Bridge on Saturday 13 August 2011. Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup - Semi Finals Inveraray v Newtonmore A huge day of shinty action throws up at 12.45pm at Spean Bridge as Inveraray meet Newtonmore for a place in the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final. Inveraray have been short of players in recent weeks but they will try to field all their key men for this one with Russell MacKinlay expected to travel north. Newtonmore will be without suspended keeper Michael Ritchie. John MacKenzie took his place between the sticks against Lovat however it’s more likely that reserve keeper Sean MacQuarrie will in goal before he dashes off to the Black Park to play for the second team in their later throw up against Fort William in the Strathdearn Cup semi finals. Graham Cameron is the match referee. Kingussie v Kilmallie The second semi final is a 3.30pm throw up between Kingussie and Kilmallie. Kingussie will definitely be without Iain Borthwick who has a broken bone in his foot. Ally MacLeod remains a doubt but we can be sure that Ronald Ross will revert to his more accustomed forward role after featuring in defence against Fort William last week. Lee Bain will return to the side after missing last week's game. Kilmallie have suffered a double blow with striker John Stewart and defender Peter Carmichael both suspended. Martin Stewart remains on the injury list but Alan MacDonald and Ross Lavin and Fraser Massie should have all benefited from Kilmallie not having a game last weekend. Defender Euan Stoddart could also return. Colin MacDonald is the referee for this one. The Camanachd Association has confirmed that should poor weather result in the pitch at Spean Bridge being unable to host both games, a contingency for moving both games to the Bught Park in Inverness and possibly Blairbeg in Drumnadrochit is in place and will be activated.
