Lochaber 5 Inverness 3 | |
09 August 2011 Lochaber beat Inverness 5-3 in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 meeting at Craigard, Invergarry on Tuesday 9 August 2011. Lochaber maintained their title challenge with a 5-3 win over Inverness in an exciting tussle. The match was switched to Craigard as Spean Bridge is not in use as it will host the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup semi finals at the weekend. Patrick Toal got Lochaber off to a great start when he put them ahead after 10 minutes. However Inverness, who only lost 1-0 to Lochaber at the Bught 10 days ago, leveled through Arran MacMaster just 3 minutes later. Lochaber went back in front on 28 minutes thanks to a Lachlan Campbell strike. Ben Delaney made it 3-1 just 4 minutes later but former Fort William player James Cameron pulled a goal back on 40 minutes to reduce Lochaber’s advantage to a single goal. Lachlan Campbell’s second goal of the game on the stroke of half time gave Lochaber a 4-2 lead at the break. The goals weren’t quite as plentiful in the second half but Arran MacMaster netted his second goal of the evening on 52 minutes to cut the deficit to one goal again. It was left to Lochaber’s Scottish international Shaun Nicolson to clinch the points for Michael Delaney’s men when he scored on 76 minutes to seal a 5-3 win. The win lifts Lochaber into second place in the league. They have 15 points from 10 games played but leaders Kinlochshiel have 20 points from the same number of matches. Lochaber are still to play Kinlochshiel at Spean Bridge. However with each side having only four matches remaining, Lochaber can only watch as wins for Kinlochshiel in their next two matches against Strathglass and Skye Camanachd will clinch the title and promotion to the Scottish Hydro premier Division. |
