There was a shortened shinty programme on Saturday 11 June 2011 with many clubs opting to take their “Free Saturday” to coincide with the Rockness Music Festival which was taking place in Inverness.
Artemis Macaulay Cup – Second Round
Kingussie 4 Lovat 1
Holders Kingussie will meet Newtonmore in the North semi final of the Artemis Macaulay Cup. Kingussie got off to a great start against Lovat when Ronald Ross netted after just 2 minutes in their clash at the Dell. There was no further scoring in the first half but Ross scored his and Kingussie’s second to make it 2-0 on 62 minutes. However Lovat battled back and Fraser Gallagher reduced the deficit 5 minutes later. Kingussie extinguished any chance of a come-back though when Craig Dawson scored twice on 72 and 81 minutes put Kingussie through.
Kilmallie 0 Newtonmore 6
Danny MacRae followed up last week’s five goals against Fort William with four against Kilmallie at the Canal Parks. Glen MacKintosh and a last minute John MacKenzie effort completed a convincing 6-0 win to set up the Badenoch derby with Kingussie.
Balliemore Cup - Semi Final
Caberfeidh 4 Beauly 1
Competitions record winners Caberfeidh are through to the Balliemore Cup Final following a 5-1 win over Beauly at Balgate. Stewart Kryzanowski scored the only goal of the first half just 5 minutes from the break. Ruairidh MacLennan got a second 10 minutes into the second period with the ball going through a hole in the net! Beauly’s Barry MacDonald pulled a goal back on 62 minutes but strikes from Kevin Bartlett and Iain MacDonald mean Cabers will face either Lochaber of Bute in the final at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree.
Strathdearn Cup - Quarter Final
Glengarry 3 Kingussie 2
Two goals in the last couple of minutes from John MacKinnon and Shaun Sloggie saw Glengarry come from 2-1 down to beat Kingussie 3-2 in a bad tempered clash at Invergarry. An Arran Clark penalty gave the home side a 1-0 first lead. However Kevin Thain scored on 50 and 75 minutes to give Kingussie the advantage before ‘Garry’s late come-back. Kingussie’s Greg MacRae and manager Norman Dickson were sent off by referee Graeme MacMillan.

A 73 minute goal from Arran Ross meant Caberfeidh from Marine Harvest North Division 3 gave Glenurquhart from a league above a late fright at Castle Leod. However holders Glenurquhart progressed to the last four thanks to goals from Ewan Menzies on 6 and 11 minutes,

A Malcolm Clark goal 12 minutes from time gave Lochside Rovers a spot in the last four with a 3-2 win over Strachur in Oban.
Taynuilt v Tayforth
Davie Arnott scored twice as Tayforth beat Taynuilt 4-0.
Scottish Hydro Premier Division
Fort William 9 Glenorchy 0
Fort William put the disappointment of last week’s Scottish Camanachd Cup exit behind them when brushed aside Glenorchy with a 9-0 win at An Aird. Daniel Stewart came into the side and scored a first half hat-trick. Gordie MacKinnon also scored three whilst a Gary Innes brace and one from Bryan Simpson completed the scoring. The Fort go second on goal difference over Kingussie and Newtonmore although ‘More have a game in hand as they all chase leaders Kyles Athletic who hold a five point advantage.

Rory Campbell scored twice to give leaders Aberdeen University a hard-earned 4-2 win over second place Boleskine in the Granite City.
Lewis Camanachd 3 Ardnamurchan 1
Lewis Camanachd celebrated an historic first league victory as they beat Ardnamurchan 3-1 at Shawbost. Calum Stamper put Lewis ahead after 38 minutes and Scott Murray made it 2-0 just a minute later. Allan Nairn pulled a goal back for Ardnamurchan on the stroke of half time. However Scott Murray’s second on 58 minutes made it 3-1 and gave Lewis their first two-pointer.
