Inverness Boss Disappointed With Single Goal Defeat. | |
08 May 2011 Inverness co-manager James MacDougall spoke of his disappointment following his side’s 1-0 Marine Harvest North Division 1 defeat to Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 30 April 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacDougall said, “That was a close game but I would have to say it was disappointing for us. I think we made it easy for Skye with a couple of mistakes in the middle of the park. I felt we deserved a draw and we had first half chances against big rufty-tufty Skye lads. ” “We were a couple of players short today but we created chances in the first half against the wind and of course we missed a free ball from the penalty spot. Our problem has been not putting the ball into the back of the net this season. We played a lot of free-flowing shinty against Strathglass last weekend but because we were a couple of players short today, we had to rejuggle things.” “We have not really been getting the rub of the green this season and we have been unable to put the same team on the park for two weeks in a row. However the positives from today were the performances of David Higham and our young keeper Adam MacMaster. Connor Golabek is also a talent and we need to nurture and protect him. It’s hard to believe that he has just turned 16 as he is old before his years.” Next up for Inverness is a home tie against Taynuilt in the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup. “We want to make the Bught Park a fortress and I know that’s a cliché but clubs come to the Bught and get a lift out of playing there, We are looking forward to the Taynuilt game which gives us the chance to get to the next round,” said MacDougall. |
