Skye Camanachd U14s Have Year To Remember. | |
24 November 2010 The Skye Camanachd U14 side rounded off another successful league campaign by clinching the North Division 1 title for the third year in a row. The Skye youngsters played 4 local league fixtures to qualify for North Division 1 where they played 6 more games to win the title. Skye beat Lochcarron U14, Glenurquhart U14 and Kingussie U14 both home and away. They beat MacMaster Cup winners Kinlochshiel and Fort William at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree whilst drawing with both sides away from home. This gave the Islanders 8 wins and 2 draws from their 10 league matches played. Skye Camanachd U14 went out of the MacMaster Cup when they lost to eventual winners Kinlochshiel U14 at Kirkton. Skye had led 3-1 before drawing the game 3-3 after extra time. The Skye Camanachd U14 goal scorers for their 11 matches in the 2010 season were; Will Cowie - 12 Angie Grant - 8 Iain MacLeod - 8 Ally MacLeod - 5 Alex MacDonald - 3 Connor Henderson - 2 Kyle Pirie - 2 Andrew Grant - 1 Stevie Murchison - 1 Mark Mortimer - 1 Will Cowie finished top scorer with 12 goals despite playing several games at full centre. Angie Grant and Iain MacLeod each scored a credible 8 goals with Ally MacLeod netting 5 times. Andrew Grant only scored one goal but it was the all-important equaliser against Fort William U14 which won the point that secured the North Division 1 title. The Skye Camanachd U14 side has one match left this season when they compete for the Alistair Nicolson Memorial Cup. |
