26 October 2010 The Portree High School girls’ shinty team travels to Dingwall Academy on Thursday 28 October 2010, looking to make an impression in the WCA North of Scotland Schools League. Portree hope to record a maiden tournament victory but the biggest obstacle to their ambitions will be Lochaber High School, who Portree have never beaten. Two-time North of Scotland U-18 cap Nicola MacSween drops out of the squad as do Emma Nicolson and Katie MacDonald who are concentrating on their studies this year. Rosalind Lamond and Jennifer MacKinnon return to the A squad after successfully co-captaining Portree B at the last tournament and they bring with them debutants Isabelle Law and Sarah Nicolson as well and Kristen MacBeth who also impressed in the last tournament. They will also be joined by the returning Helen Lamond and Portree’s squad has a strong look despite some absences thanks to the presence of Ilana Paterson, Lorna MacRae and Jenny Morrison who all represented the North of Scotland U18s earlier this month. Coach Eòghan Stewart can also call on the talents of Marie MacKinnon, Sophie Tinney and Caitlin MacLean which shows the strength in depth of girls’ shinty in Skye.
