There have been some new additions to the Camanachd Association’s player sponsorship scheme ahead of the Shinty / Hurling internationals against Ireland.
This will help with the costs associated with holding the first international double header between Scotland and Ireland.
Businesses have been invited to sponsor any individual squad player for only £150.
In return, the sponsor will receive 2 VIP tickets and reserved seats for the international at the Bught Park, Inverness, an invitation to the pre-match reception, a replica strip of player concerned and recognition in both the match programme and Camanachd Association website.
Ferguson Transport owner Ally Ferguson, a former Scotland Head Coach, was first to take up the offer and he has sponsored Gary Innes.
Since then Gow's Garage in Kingussie has come forward to sponsor Kingussie’s Paul Gow.
Artemis will sponsor Kyles Athletic duo Grant Irvine and Roddy MacDonald.
MacRae & Dick will sponsor Glenurquhart’s Andrew Corrigan.
Lochaber’s Neil MacDonald will be sponsored by The Room, Inverness.
The Bute Blacksmiths will sponsor Bute’s Iain MacDonald.
Fort William’s Stevie Stewart became the first Scotland U21 player to be sponsored and he is backed by Langon & Smith, Fort William.
There are still other star names available for sponsorship including Kingussie’s record scorer Ronald Ross and Fort William’s Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup winning captain Naill MacPhee.
The Shinty / Hurling internationals take place at Croke Park on 30 October 2010 and at the Bught Park, Inverness a fortnight later.
