Iain Grant & Shaun Hedley Collect Portree High School Awards. | |
20 September 2010 Skye Camanachd players Iain Grant and Shaun Hedley recently picked up shinty awards from Portree High School. Both players were part of the Skye Camanachd U17 team which won the London Shield in 2009. Iain Grant was awarded the Jake MacDonald Caman which is presented to the senior player (4th / 5th / 6th Year) who has done most for shinty in the school. Grant plays for Skye Camanachd at U17 level and is a regular in the Islanders’ second team. Previous winners include Iain Morrison and Stewart Grant in 2009 and 2008 winner Shockie MacLennan. Ally MacLennan and Steven Morrison have also won the award. Shaun Hedley was presented with the Ewen MacLean Trophy which is awarded to the junior player (1st / 2nd / 3rd Year) who has done most for shinty in the school. Hedley currently plays for Skye Camanachd U17s and plays and at Skye Camanachd second team level. He even made his first team debut this season. Jordan Murchison was last years Ewen MacLean Trophy winner whilst Martin Bruce won the award in 2008 and Neil MacVicar in 2007. |
