Kingussie took the chance to go third on goal difference when they brat Bute 6-2 at the Dell. Kingussie had played only three of their nine league fixtures before this game at the Dell so this was a welcome home match for them. Bute earned a creditable draw when the sides met in Rothesay in April but they found Kingussie to be too strong in this one. Thomas Borthwick opened the scoring on 19 minutes and Ronald Ross rattled in a 6 minute hat-trick with goals on 31, 36 and 37 minutes. Borthwick added his second on the stroke of half time to give Kingussie a commanding 5-0 half time lead. Bute’s Robert Walker pulled a goal back on 50 minutes and Jim Craig made it 5-2 on 55 minutes. However Ross scored his fourth of the game a couple of minutes later to make it 6-2. Indeed had it not been for some fine goalkeeping by Bute’s Kevin Queen, the winning margin could have been greater.
