21 June 2010 North Skye A won the Isle of Skye Round Table Sixes following a thrilling morning’s shinty at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 19 June 2010. A total of 7 teams took part in the tournament which is down in numbers on recent years as Portree were playing in the Tulloch League National Final and other commitments meant South End were only able to field one side. North Skye A won Group A whilst their B side edged out Dunvegan and Portree A to finish in second place to also qualify for the semi final stage. Bracadale won Group B with South Skye finishing in second place ahead of Portree B. In the semi finals, Bracadale beat North Skye B 2-0 and North Skye A were too strong for South End, running out 6-0 winners. The final was a well contested match between Bracadale and North Skye A. North Skye went ahead with a goal from Marcus Ross but with the last hit of the match, Bracadale’s John MacInnes scored a fantastic goal from 20 yards to take the final into extra time. John Gillies put North Skye ahead for the second time with a good solo effort at the start of the first period of extra time. However Bracadale refused to give up and John MacInnes scored yet another fine goal just before the break to square the final at 2 goals apiece. The game was heading for a penalty shoot-out before North Skye’s Robert MacDonald turned his marker and scored to make it 3-2 and win the trophy for his side.
