Glenurquhart 7 Skye Camanachd 0. | |
18 April 2010 Skye Camanachd went down to a 7-0 defeat to Glenurquhart in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 match at Blairbeg on Saturday 17 April 2010.
Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar was forced to make 3 changes to the starting line up which drew with Kinlochshiel a fortnight earlier.
Danny Morrison and Stewart Grant returned to the side after a spell on first team. Forwards Ally MacDonald and Ally MacLeod, who were both substitutes against Shiel, were promoted to the starting line-up. Willie MacRae and Shaun Hedley dropped to the bench whilst Neil MacVicar remained on first team duty and Jordan Murchison was injured.
Skye started with Andrew Banks at full back and David Grant in the wing back role. Martin Bruce, at buckshee back, was given the role of marking Glen’s David Smart who scored 6 times against Lochcarron last weekend. Stewart Grant started at full centre with Danny Morrison at buckshee forward.
The home side took the lead on 15 minutes through Daniel MacIntosh and Ewen Brady made it 2-0 just 9 minutes later.
MacVicar mover Danny Morrison to full centre and switched full back Andrew Banks with David Grant in an attempt to get his side back in the game.
Skye thought they had pulled a goal back when Angie MacDonald pushed the ball goalwards after turning past Drew MacLennan. However the referee and goal judge ruled that the ball hadn’t crossed the line.
A Ewen Menzies’s drive on 33 minutes took a couple of deflections before squeezing past Ross Graham to give Glenurquhart a 3-0 half time lead.
Glenurquhart keeper Gary MacKintosh made a fantastic save from an Angie MacDonald rocket shot in the opening minutes of the second half as the Islanders fought to reduce the deficit.
Shaun Hedley came on in the Skye attack to replace Ally MacLeod on 55 minutes and his tenacious style troubled the home defence.
It was actually against the run of play when Gregor MacCormack put Glenurquhart 4-0 ahead on 57 minutes. He fired the ball across Ross Graham from what seemed like an almost impossible angle.
Willie MacRae replaced Stewart Grant after 65 minutes and Scott Martin took over from Danny Morrison in the full centre role.
Glenurquhart substitute Kelvin MacKenzie made it 5-0 on 70 minutes and Ewen Brady scored his second goal 5 minutes later.
MacKintosh saved well again from Angie MacDonald but Daniel MacIntosh, who started the scoring on 15 minutes, netted the final goal of the game on 82 minutes to round off a 7-0 win.
Glenurquhart were well served by full centre Ian MacLeod whilst Skye keeper Ross Graham saved his side from an even bigger defeat.
