Ballachulish Vote Against Marine Harvest North Division Switch. | |
16 December 2011 Ballachulish have voted against a switch to Marine Harvest North Division 1. As expected, Ballachulish have voted against a Camanachd Association proposal to switch leagues and they will continue to compete in Marine Harvest South Division 1 for the 2012 shinty season. There was a feeling within the club that staying in Marine Harvest South Division 1 will provide a better platform to nurture their younger players and the club prefers to wait and see what changes the 2014 competitions review will bring. The Jubilee Park side finished in fifth place in Marine Harvest South Division 1 last season and their home pitch is only 15 miles from Fort William. The Camanachd Association faces an imbalance of sides competing in the North and South first divisions next season. It currently looks as if there will be as few as seven sides set to compete in the North whilst there could be as many as eleven teams in the South. A switch of league for Ballachulish would have gone some way to addressing that position. |
