18 November 2011 Both London Shield semi finals take place on Saturday 19 November 2011. Glenurquhart U17 v Oban Celtic U17 The clash between Glenurquhart U17 and Oban Celtic U17 takes place at the Dell, Kingussie with a 1.30pm throw up. Glenurquhart U17 were 2009 London Shield runners up, losing 2-1 to Skye Camanachd U17 in the final, and they have qualified out of a tough North section as runners up. They have several fine players in their squad including Fraser Heath and Ewan Brady who were part of the victorious Scotland U17 side in Dublin in July. Oban Celtic U17 finished top of the South section ahead of the likes of Fort William U17, Lochaber U17 and Kingussie U17. Their main man is full centre Gary McKerracher who was recently named National Marine Harvest U17 Player of the Year. His younger brother Ally McKerracher features in attack.
FortWilliam U17 v Kinlochshiel U17 The 1.30pm throw up between Fort William U17 and Kinlochshiel U17 has been switched to Balgate and this could be another exciting affair. The Fort youngsters made a late surge to reach the last four following wins over Kilmallie U17 and Kingussie U17 in recent weeks. Cameron Grant will be a key player whilst forward Jack Fraser has been amongst the goals already in the competition. The side also includes some of the Forts rising stars with North U14 players Dejan Watson and Lewis Morrison also on target in recent weeks. Kinlochshiel’s Donald Nixon is one of the more experienced players in the Kinlochshiel squad having been given his first taste of senior shinty this season. Oliver MacRae is another who joined Nixon in the 2011 North U17 squad. The ‘Shiel squad also features many of the players who won the U14 MacMaster Cup in 2010 including Aedan MacRae, Conall Fraser and Ewan Falconer. |
