Scotland v Ireland - Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling International …………. 4 Days To Go! | |
25 October 2011 The Scotland players and management team are hoping for a big Bught Park support ahead of the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international second test against Ireland on Saturday 29 October 2011. The Scots are 2-1 following the first test which they lost 19-14 at Geraldine Park, Athy, Co. Kildare on Saturday 22 October 2011 and they hope a big home support can help them over-haul the Irish lead. Scotland and Kinlochshiel forward Finlay MacRae, who has played in front the Bught Park crowd before in this game, told local radio station Cuillin FM, “You are aware of the great atmosphere when you are on the field and it’s always good at the Bught Park. You don’t often get to play in such high profile games so I really look forward to the Scotland games at the end of the season. You get a good feeling when the supporters get behind you.” Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil added, “Anyone who attends this game enjoys the spectacle and it’s an amazing spectacle. The game is physical, fast and it is skilful and there are no shenanigans, no carry-on, no theatrics; we just get on with it. We enjoy ourselves and we are trying to portray our sport the best we can. It’s not just about who wins at the end but it’s about what we produce on the match day. You know, the hurlers think they have the best sport in the world but personally I think we have the best sport in the world and with the skill levels we have, we can show the hurlers this.” The Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international second test between Scotland and Ireland takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011. The match starts at 2pm and, if you are unable to make the game, it will be shown live on BBC2 Scotland starting at 1.45pm. The second test will be preceded by the meeting between the Scotland U21 and Ireland U21 sides who clash at 12 noon. The day’s sporting feast begins with a Challenge Shinty / Camogie match between Scotland and the British Universities side and this starts at 10.30am.
