Ireland Take 2-1 Lead Into Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling International Second Test. | |
24 October 2011 Ireland will take a slender 2-1 lead Into Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling International Second Test at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011. That is because the Marine Harvest Quaich is to be decided by the same scoring system as used last year when the teams drew 4-4 before Ireland took the honours because they had the better aggregate score which only counts when the teams are tied on points. Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil explained, “A win constitutes 2 points whilst a draw is 1 point and you get no points for a defeat. Also, if a team scores two or more goals during the game, they are awarded an additional point. However in the event of the series ending 3-3, then, the actual aggregate score will come into play.” Ireland picked up 2 points for winning the first test last weekend but they got no additional points as they only scored one goal. Scotland got no points for losing but they did pick up a bonus points for “scoring two goals or more” thanks to strikes from Keith MacRae and Gary Innes. The Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international second test between Scotland and Ireland takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011. The match starts at 2pm and, if you are unable to make the game, it will be shown live on BBC2 Scotland starting at 1.45pm. The second test will be preceded by the meeting between the Scotland U21 and Ireland U21 sides who clash at 12 noon. The day’s sporting feast begins with a Challenge Shinty / Camogie match between Scotland and the British Universities side and this starts at 10.30am.
