Jim Barr Steps Down As Glenurquhart Boss. | |
21 October 2011 Jim Barr has stepped down as Glenurquart first team manager. Barr has been in charge of the Glen first team for the last two seasons. He is a former Glenurquhart player and chairman and he took over from the hugely successful first team management duo of Billy MacLean and Dave Menzies. The pair stood down after leading the Glenurquhart to the Marine Harvest North Division 1 title in 2008, when they were named Marine Harvest Club of the Year, and then through a very successful campaign in the top flight in 2009 when they again secured the Marine Harvest Club of the Year Award. Barr carried on that success. He led the team to a sixth place finish in the Scottish Hydro Premier Division in 2010 and they could finish as high as fourth place this season, after a campaign in which they beat Kingussie and Newtonmore on their own turf. Barr enlisted the help of Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil and he coached the side this season. Glenurquhart hope to confirm Barr's replacement at their AGM later this month. |
