Skye Boss MacVicar Happy To End Season On A High. | |
09 October 2011 Skye Camanachd second team boss Davie MacVicar was happy to end the season on a high following his side’s 5-1 win over Glengarry in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 meeting at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 1 October 2011. After the game, the second team manager gave his thoughts on the game, “The win meant we finished the season on a high and we had good movement among the forwards today. We killed the game in the first half, scoring four times within the first 32 minutes. This kept an understrength Glengarry on the back foot and even when we lost a sloppy goal, we responded pretty much immediately. The forward line was pretty much untried as a unit but they worked well together. It was a good overall team performance, playing to our strengths with no real stars in the team although I thought Darryl Macintosh put in a good shift in midfield and kept Steven Cameron pretty much on the back foot.” Turning his thoughts to the season as a whole, MacVicar said, “Overall the season hasn’t been as bad as league results might suggest. We took points off all of the teams in the league apart from champions Newtonmore. They twice beat us 4-3, once in the league and once in the Strathdearn Cup. We performed well in the cups, reaching the semi of the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup before losing to the eventual winners Kingussie. We reached the quarter finals of the Strathdearn Cup before losing to eventual winners Newtonmore in a game we dominated.” “We have seen Ally MacDonald emerge during the season along with Will Cowie who is commanding a starting slot at the age of just 14. In Jordan Murchison we have someone emerging as a regular scorer who has scored around 20 goals for the second team alone despite missing several games during the season through injury. Several others from this year’s U17 side are looking to emerge and become important second team players next year including Ally MacLeod and Magnus Burd.” |
