17 September 2011 Skye Camanachd U14 meets Fort William U14 in the MacMaster Cup Final at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 17 September 2011. Coach Willie Cowie gives his view on the players who will feature in the final. 1. Raymond Gillies – A very cool and competent goalie. Makes some spectacular saves and is also a very good hitter. 2. Iain Macleod - A versatile player who is comfortable in any position. Playing at full back this season and has a huge influence on his fellow defenders. 3. Shaun Henderson - A tough tackling player who has really improved this year. Plays an important part in the team and links up well with the midfield. 4. Kyle Pirie - He has been very consistent this year. Good tackler and one of the best hitters in the team. 5. Ally MacLeod - A very quick player and an excellent marker. Picks up anything the midfield miss and has a bright future in the game. 6. Stevie Murchison - Perhaps the most improved player in the team this season. Loves tackling and has the potential to be as good as his brother Jordan. 7. Will Cowie – The team captain and full centre of the Skye team. He shows great commitment to shinty. Hits equally well of both sides and can score goals from anywhere. 8. Ally MacCrimmon – A big strong player that you'll not shift off the ball. He seems to have found his best position in the midfield area. 9. Andrew Grant - A talented player that can change a game in a flash. A very athletic and scores some cracking goals. He links up well with his cousin Angie. 10. D.J. Gilpin - He is another versatile player who is enjoying playing in the forward line at the moment. He is a fine hitter who has all the required shinty skills. 11. Caitlin MacLean – She is one of the young guns in the team who plays a very big part in the side. Has a great attitude and scorer of some important goals this season. 12. Angie Grant - He is another potential match winner. Fine stick player who links up well with other players. He plays a big role in the team and is one to watch in the final. 14. James Pringle - A slight player but quick and skilful and another goal threat. He is the son of the legendary Skye player Davie Pringle. 15. John Gillies - He is the youngest member of the team this year. He shows all the skills and determination that his mum passed on. Has a good eye for the goal. 16. Alex MacDonald – He is another busy little player that always makes an impression. |
