11 September 2011 The wet weather wiped out all but four shinty fixtures played on Saturday 10 September 2011. Scottish Hydro Premier Division Oban Camanachd 2 Fort William 0 Oban Camanachd picked up two priceless points in their fight against relegation with a 2-0 win over Fort William at Mossfield. Teenager Malcolm Clark put the home side ahead 10 minutes from the break and Aidan MacIntyre sealed the win with a 52 minute strike in what was an entertaining match. Kyles Athletic P Kingussie P The match between league leaders Kyles Athletic and Kingussie was postponed. The pitch at Tighnabruaich was ruled unplayable and efforts to arrange an alternative venue proved fruitless. Kilmallie P Newtonmore P The game between Kilmallie and Newtonmore was postponed as the Canal Parks was unplayable. Glenorchy P Glenurquhart P An unplayable pitch also ruled out the game between Glenorchy and Glenurquhart at Dalmally. Marine Harvest North Division 1 Skye Camanachd 3 Caberfeidh 1 First half goals from Jordan Murchison, Somhairle MacDonald and Danny Morrison gave Skye Camanachd a 3-1 win over Caberfeidh at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Kirk Taylor netted for the visitors 15 minutes from time. Marine Harvest South Division 1 Kilmory P Bute P The match between Kilmory and champions Bute was postponed because of an unplayable pitch. Kyles Athletic P Lochside Rovers P The unplayable pitch at Tighnabruaich also put paid to the 12 noon clash between third bottom Kyles Athletic and third top Lochside Rovers. Marine Harvest North Division 2 Lovat 8 Fort William 0 Lovat eased their relegation fears with an 8-0 win over Fort William at Balgate. Jamie Matheson scored twice for Lovat and his younger brother Greg Matheson went one better with a hat-trick. Kinlochshiel 3 Glenurquhart 2 Kinlochshiel also guaranteed their Marine Harvest North Division 2 status with narrow 3-2 win over Glenurquhart at Kirkton. Scott Kennedy put ‘Shiel in front but a Lewis MacLennan double put the visitors ahead. However they were unable to take this lead into the break as John MacRae made it 22 on 43 minutes. David Falconer scored what proved to be the winner on the hour mark. It will now be either reigning champions Glenurquhart or Kilmallie who finish in bottom spot in the league. |
