Lewis Camanachd Set For Final Home Match Of The Season. | |
05 August 2011 Lewis Camanachd and Inverness meet at Shawbost on Saturday 6 August 2011 in what will be the Islanders final home fixture in their fledgling season. At the start of the season, many wondered whether teams would be prepared to make the trip to Shawbost to fulfil their away fixture against Lewis. However to the Island club’s delight, all home fixtures will have been fulfilled with Inverness’ trip across the water this weekend. Lochbroom were the first team to visit Shawbost on Saturday 28 May 2011 and they returned home with both points following a 9-0 win. Lochcarron and Boleskine also returned home with the points before Lewis recorded an historic 3-1 home win over Ardnamurchan. Since then Beauly, Strathglass and Caberfeidh have visited culminating with Inverness’ journey this weekend. Lewis Camanachd arranged to play both their matches against Aberdeen University at neutral venues because of the huge distance between the two clubs. The Camanachd Association granted Lewis Camanachd permission to join the senior league for the 2011 shinty season but they are sure to have been impressed by the other club’s willingness to make the trip to Shawbost when they come to review their decision at the end of the season. |
