We Didn’t Take Our Chances Says Skye Boss MacVicar. | |
30 June 2011 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar felt his side didn’t take their chances in their 4-3 Strathdearn Cup quarter final defeat to Newtonmore at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 25 June 2011. Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show after the game MacVicar said, “If we had the three forwards that were missing today, I think we would have had the game wrapped up by half-time to be honest. We worked away and battled hard with the resources we had available but we were stretched with players injured and others off to play for the first team. We might have set the team out differently if we had the chance again but in was really our inability to score in the first half that cost us.” MacVicar was disappointed to go out of the cup saying, “We are disappointed particularly when this was a home tie and it gives us some selection decisions to make with hopefully guys to come back into the team for Fort William next week. We will hopefully have Jordan Murchison back for the semi final against Kingussie but only if he is fit as we don’t want to set the boy’s career back.” Full centre Shaun earned special praise from his manager. “Shaun Hedley was absolutely fantastic today and at times he didn’t get the support he’d have got had Allan MacKinnon not been away with the first team. We forget that Shaun is only 16 and he is very unlucky to be on the losing side today. He got a couple of great goals but we should have had more shots on target as a team and I’m sure we would have benefited from that.” Next for Skye Camanachd is a trip to An Aird to play Fort William in Marine Harvest North Division 2. |
